For many applications air power tools offer several advantages over conventional electric power tools. They are often lighter and frequently more powerful, they do not overheat or burn out and so are suitable for continuous use. They are usually the only acceptable form of power tool for high-risk areas such as petrochemical sites or wet working conditions.

Provided that sufficient air is supplied at the correct pressure and regular lubrication is applied through the air inlet, air tools will give many hours of trouble free service.
